Dunstane House was built in 1852 to the design of the famous architect William Playfair, who also designed the nearby Donaldsons' College for the Deaf. Originally Dunstane Villa, as it was first named, was the private residence of the Ross family, famous for their Edinburgh Castle Rock and other confectionery produced in Scotland. The bandstand in Princes Street gardens takes its name from the family. This elegant Edinburgh restaurant makes much of its handsome original features combined with an evocative and genuine Orcadian atmosphere. Although the emphasis is on seafood (check our sample menu) we serve a rich variety of other dishes, including prime Orkney beef and lamb and vegetarian meals.
The Stane bar serves lighter meals during lunch and evening and has over 90 malt whiskys to choose from.
